Coworking Etiquette at Windsor Worx: How We Thrive Together
Coworking is more than just shared desks—it’s about shared purpose. At Windsor Worx, our space thrives on a spirit of collaboration, professionalism, and mutual respect. Whether you're a freelancer, entrepreneur, or remote worker, maintaining a productive and enjoyable environment means following a few simple coworking etiquette best practices.
Here’s how we keep things flowing smoothly for everyone who calls Windsor Worx their work home.
1. Headphones On = Distractions Off
Community Standard: Use headphones for all virtual meetings and media.
Windsor Worx is a vibrant space, but staying focused requires boundaries. That’s why all virtual meetings—including Zoom, Teams, or quick client check-ins—should always be taken using headphones or earbuds. Speakerphone mode is a no-go in our open coworking areas.
Examples of headphone-necessary situations:
Online meetings or video calls
Listening to webinars, podcasts, or tutorials
Phone calls made via your computer
Pro tip: If you need to share audio with someone or test something out loud, head to one of our private phone booths or available meeting rooms.
2. Keep Devices Silent in Shared Areas
Community Standard: Silence phones and turn off disruptive alerts.
It only takes one loud ringtone to pull everyone out of deep work. In shared coworking zones, please keep your devices on vibrate or silent and disable noisy app notifications on laptops, tablets, and smartwatches.
Expecting an important call?
Keep your phone on vibrate
Step away from the main desk area to take the call
Being mindful of your device noise is a small habit that makes a big impact.
3. Respect the Volume of Your Conversations
Community Standard: Maintain a low, respectful voice at desks.
We love the community connections that happen at Windsor Worx—those spontaneous conversations often spark ideas or friendships. But our shared desk areas are primarily designed for focus.
When in doubt, follow these volume guidelines:
Use a “library voice” at shared desks
For longer or animated conversations, shift to a lounge area, hallway, or book a meeting room
Match the room’s energy—if most people are focused, follow suit
Balancing friendliness and focus is what keeps our coworking vibe just right.
4. Leave Shared Spaces Better Than You Found Them
Community Standard: Clean up after yourself—everywhere.
Coworking works best when we all treat the space like we own it. Whether you're at a desk, in the kitchen, or wrapping up a meeting, a few thoughtful actions go a long way.
At your desk:
Clear away any trash
Take your belongings with you
Wipe up crumbs or spills
In meeting rooms:
Take everything with you
Erase whiteboards
Reset chairs and tidy surfaces
In the kitchen or bathrooms:
Rinse and load your dishes
Wipe counters and fix any spills
Toss paper towels in the trash
Avoid leaving personal items behind
Think: “Leave it cleaner than you found it.” That’s how we keep our space professional, welcoming, and stress-free.
5. Bonus Tips for Being a Great Coworking Neighbor
Always wear headphones, even for “just one video.”
Avoid strong smells: Save overly fragrant foods or perfumes for home.
Respect desk boundaries: Don’t spread across unreserved desks.
Ask when unsure: You can always reach out through the Optix app or email us at windsor@windsorworx.com.
